Sholingur hill temple

he Small Mountain (Chinna Malai) is about 200 feet where lord Anjaneya is found in sitting position found along with Sangu and Chakkaram in west facing direction. Here, Sri Vishnu gave His dharshan to Anjaneyar. Aanjaneyar is considered to be the resemblence (or) Avathaar of Shiva, but here he is resembling the avathar of Sri Vishnu. Hanuman has four arms (chatusbuja) with a Sanka and Chakra in two arms. Here Hamuman is known as Yoga Anjaneya. HE is also seated in a yogic posture with a Jap Mala and Jap Sanka and meditating upon Lord Narasimhan. Lord Rama Patabisheka is engraved on his Krida (crown) of Hanuman. Lord Hanuman here protects devotees and grants them various boons. Nowhere else in India is Lord Hanuman seen with Sanka and Chakra given by Lord Narasimha himself to protect the devotees. Arulmigu Subramanya Swamy Koil

This temple is one among the six Padaiveedu of Lord Muruga. ie. the 5th Padaiveedu..Thai Poosam and Panguni Uthiram festivals are very famous festivals and large number of devotees coming here at that time. Tiruttani constitutes one of the six Padai Veedu shrines of Skanda (Lord Subramanya), and it represents the site where Subramanya stayed after destroying the demon Surapadman. Tiruttani is said to be the place where the Lord Subramanya married Valli - one of his two consorts. Thiruthani Thiruthani The other five are; Palani (100 km west of Madurai),Swamimalai (150 km east of Madurai),Tirupparangunram(5 km from Madurai),Pazhamudircholai (10 km north of Madurai) and Thiruchendur (100 km south of Madurai). Tiruttani constitutes one of the 6 padai veedu shrines of Skanda, and it represents the site where Subramanyar stayed after destroying the demon Surapadman. It has been revered by the Tiruppugazh hymns of Arunagirinathar, Tirumurugatruppadai of the Sangam period, Tanikai puranam by Kachiappa munivar. Ramalinga Adigalaar is also associated with this shrine. Legend has it that Subramanyar married Valli who hailed from the Vallimalai hills nearby. The same legend is associated with Velimalai in Kanyakumari district. Legend also has it that Indra the king of the Gods gave his daughter Deivayanai in marriage to Skanda, and along with her presented his elephant Airavatam as part of his dowry offering.      Book Now
